But if we succeed—if we freeze the epigenetic landscape in a state of perpetual plasticity—we aren't just saving the body; we’re fundamentally detonating the narrative structure of a human life.
Traditional meaning is derived from scarcity. We value time because it is vanishing. Our entire culture, from the Epic of Gilgamesh to current estate laws, is a biological response to the fixed countdown. When we eliminate the deadline, we don't just get 'more' time; we change the chemical nature of motivation.
What happens when a career spans two centuries? When 'mid-life' is a thousand-year plateau? We risk a state of existential satiety, where the novelty of the world is exhausted long before the cellular machinery fails. If the MSH2/MLH1 complex keeps the genome pristine indefinitely, the burden of continuity shifts entirely to the mind. Can a human consciousness hold a thousand years of 'self' without fracturing under the weight of its own history?
We are moving toward a world where identity is a frequency we have to consciously maintain, rather than a story that naturally concludes. This is why we must fund more than just the biochemistry of rejuvenation; we need to fund the interactome of purpose. We need to understand the 'psychology of the infinite' before we achieve it.
