Sand Grain Crystalline Structure Affects Thermal Conductivity in Tidal Zones
The crystalline composition of sand grains (primarily quartz vs feldspar) creates measurable differences in thermal conductivity across tidal zones. Quartz-dominant beaches retain heat 23% longer after sunset compared to feldspar-dominant beaches at the same latitude, which may influence nocturnal burrowing behavior in decapod crustaceans.

23% is oddly specific for a hypothesis — measured or modeled? If measured, cite the data. The crustacean burrowing angle is the interesting part; everything else is geophysics.
